A kind RFSC supporter is offering proceeds from the sales of her
birdhouses to help us.
From Jolinda:
Many
years ago, our Church would have an annual Harvest Festival. We would gather and make items for the festival.
Once we made birdhouses and I fell in love with making
them. I really enjoy using recycled, found objects, and license plates for the tops. They are very functional and the Wrens at my house love
them. My father cuts the wood for me and my husband helps me with the nailing together when I am done.
I have
made them for family and friends for years and recently found a
wonderful flower shop called Season's Best who has been more
then gracious to sell the birdhouses for me and they have been a
huge success. Each one is different from the next and very
eclectic.
All
proceeds go to Retrievers and Friends and we are thrilled to be
able to do this.
If you are in
Fallbrook please stop by Season's Best at
1343 S. Live Oak Park Rd.
Fallbrook, CA 92028
The owners are terrific and the shop sits right in front
of the growing hot houses

Jolinda is pictured here with some of the birdhouses and her dog,
Lilly. Lilly is an RFSC alumni.
Introducing Gianna Poss and Ethel...
 |
Gianna has made some
beautiful blankets in hope of helping our rescue raise some money to help more animals.
Our rescue has been full most of the year
due to the economy. There are many
families losing their homes.
Some families are unable to afford to
keep their pets. It is
heartbreaking for us to have to tell
some families that we do not have room
to take their pets.
We are in the process of setting up a
location that will allow us to take in
about 7 more dogs a month.
|
Gianna is kindly making fleece blankets to help us reach this
goal. The blankets are beautiful and are available for a
donation to RFSC. Every dollar for the sale of a blanket will go
directly to RFSC. These blankets
are great for both people and pets.
You can
purchase one of
these blankets by
clicking this paypal link.
Please be sure to include the name of the fleece fabric and the size of your blanket.
After you log in to Paypal, you can click on "Add special

If you

Years ago, Ethel was adopted from RFSC with her sister Lucy. Both girls were rescued from a shelter.
The Posses adopted Ethel and her baby Lucy -
they specifically requested that Liz find a dog
or dogs that were particularly needed.
Ethel outlived her daughter Lucy with only
one eye and one of her legs also slightly
injured. She would patrol the yard.
Lucy has gone to Rainbow Bridge last
year. On January 5, Gianna and Jim Poss
also lost their dear dog Ethel.
|
Ethel would sit in her little bed while
Gianna made blankets. She would also sit
on top of the fleece as the blankets were
knotted together.
She overcame so many
obstacles. Ethel will continue to inspire Gianna to make blankets.
Gianna has always been a big supporter
of RFSC and is always there to help.
She often calls just to ask if we need
anything.

Retrievers & Friends of Southern California, Inc., was formed to rescue and re-home Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers, providing an alternative to the animal shelter for owners who can no longer keep their dogs.
We are a full-service rescue, with dogs coming to us from all over the Southern California area for foster care services. RFSC not only provides care for dogs while they are waiting for adoption, but we provide follow-up assistance for the life of the dog.
If for any reason a family can not keep a dog, the dog is brought back to the organization for placement.
We have volunteers that perform home visits before
each adoption. Our geographic adoption area is Riverside, San Diego, Orange
and certain areas of San Bernardino counties. We cover areas of San Bernardino county that are 1 hour or less driving distance from Temecula.
In addition to Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers, RFSC also accepts mixed breeds and other small purebred dogs as space allows. We accept Goldens and Labs of all ages, including seniors and those with special needs. All dogs are spayed and neutered and updated on vaccinations if not already done by the owner. Dogs with special medical needs are further evaluated by our veterinarian for treatment.
Your donations are always appreciated and help us to continue to care for these special dogs. Because we are an all-volunteer group, 100% of all adoption fees and donations are used for the care of the dogs in our program. Your tax-deductible donations are appreciated!
